BART - Line and Track Extension to San Francisco International Airport – S. San Francisco, CA

San Francisco and the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans) was a design/build project which implemented an 8.2-mile, 4-station extension of the BART rapid transit system to serve San Francisco International Airport.  This $1.2 Billion project consisted of a 7.4-mile mainline and additional .8 mile extension from the existing BART station at Colma, through Colma, S. San Francisco, and San Bruno, and terminated at the Millbrae Ave. BART/CalTrain Station with the extension to San Francisco Airport. NBA provided the electrical design for the system-wide raceway design and construction cost estimates as well as drawings and specifications for the installation of all 8.2 miles of duct banks, raceways, conduits and lateral conduit up to the structures such as gap breaker, switching station, and traction power substation. Performed constructability reviews and field inspection to ensure that the project was installed according to plans & specifications and local codes as well as reviewing and negotiating change orders with contractors.  Also, NBA provided 680 composite drawings.  NBA Engineering coordinated with vendors, electrical contractor, civil, structural engineers and train control designer on this design/build project.
