F.E. Jordan Associates, Inc. was selected to undertake a study of alternative wharf systems and final design for the Carnation Container/Terminal. The scope of work for this project included the evaluation of wharf design alternatives and final design of the 1200- foot Carnation Container Terminal Wharf, a 300-foot extension of the Matson Container Terminal and a 600-foot extension of the Oakland Container Terminal. Project required various alternatives before a final design was selected. Final design for the Carnation Terminal project required the evaluation of three alternative fendering systems, the design of the girders for a 100-foot gauge gantry crane, provision for the crane to travel around a corner on a large radius rail, utility design, electrical and all required dredging and shore protection.
